The mandate of the Wolf Kahn Foundation Archives is to catalog, preserve and make publicly accessible an archival collection documenting the life, career and artistic process of Wolf Kahn. 

The Wolf Kahn Foundation Archives furthers the mission of the Wolf Kahn Foundation’s Board of Directors and its Legacy Task Force by: 

• Preserving materials related to Wolf Kahn’s life and work in perpetuity
• Facilitating scholarly research into Wolf Kahn’s life and work
• Promoting Wolf Kahn’s legacy to new audiences

The Wolf Kahn Foundation Archives stewards the Wolf Kahn Papers, consisting of correspondence, photographs, notebooks, audiovisual materials, three-dimensional objects and ephemera left by the artist to his foundation; the currently unprocessed Wolf Kahn Studio Business Records, consisting of paper documents; the Wolf Kahn Foundation Records consisting of a small collection of documents, oral histories and ephemera collected after the artist’s death; and a small Research Library of published material related to Wolf Kahn’s life, work and exhibition history, Second Generation New York School visual artists, New England and New York poets, American art museums, and art history broadly.

Archives staff are in the process of developing a dedicated online archive to make these materials available to scholars and the general public.

At this time the collection is closed to the public for in-person research. Research appointments may be granted in special circumstances at the discretion of Wolf Kahn Foundation staff.
